There are many worthy causes in the world: Children, disease, those less fortunate. Vinyl Record Day (VRD) is a unique Non profit organization. It's not for any one age group, ethnic background, gender, or special need. It's not for anyone but ones self, collectively, VRD is meant to benefit all society.

Being a Founding Supporter of Vinyl Record Day is to contribute to the ideal that a national day, August 12th, dedicated to music, friends, and family can become established. It is to encourage our national community to stay in touch with the music that is the vehicle to fondest moments. It is to celebrate those moments, not for nostalgia, but to value the good times of our life. Dick Clark said our favorite music is the soundtrack of our lives. Jimi Hendrix called LP'S our personal diaries. The premise for how Vinyl Record Day can have a positive impact on society is regardless of what generation we are from, we share a common thread; everyone has music that reminds them of special times, friends, family. Through the celebration of Vinyl Record Day on the first Saturday following August 12th we hope to connect that common thread and designate a day in our national life that is enjoyed by all generations.

Supporting Vinyl Record Day is also to support the preservation of the cultural influences, the recordings, and the cover art of the vinyl record. The Mission Statement discusses this in detail, the bottom line is that record companies can not put everything on compact disc. We, the public, are the custodians of our recorded heritage. Without preservation less popular music and artists, historical recordings and much more could be lost.
